Venice

This sad to say was only a day trip from Milan. We of course are in Italy at Carnival time so the cost of hostels were the price of a Holiday Inn and when we are used to paying or have budgeted for about 10-15 euros a night 100 is more than we want to pay on a budget. Worth the cost for a honeymoon but not a backpacking trip. So we arrive in the morning and begin to walk to the most famous spots along with everyone else who is there for Valentines day. Yes, apparently they celebrate this holiday too. Now this city is built for street venders the walls are high and the streets are narrow but they did have some beautiful stuff, to look at. We arrived Thursday day after Ash Wednesday so there were beautiful masks on display in the windows and from the street vendors. The cost was very expensive but of course for the most unique the price was astronomical. We took lunch knowing it would cost a lot to have lunch there and Praise God for sunshine! We did not expect it and it was most appreciated along with the sangria we bought at the store in Milan for two euros. Ahhh, I miss Texas. Mandi looked into taking a gondola ride but they were 100 euro to ride so we just took pictures. We have learned how appreciate things from a distance on our trip. I did get several pigeons on me because I gave them crackers and did not get any poop on me, yea! After getting our pics we decided to make our way back to Milan and prepare for our trip to Switzerland.
