London
What a trip. Four hours on a ferry and a train trip from the coast. Tired again and not feeling 100% but not as bad as I was or so I am hoping, my chest is aching. No reason to worry now we are in London!! We were blessed to stay with Carol’s (Mandi’s step-mom) friends. What an amazing family!!! Ron, Sarah, Jacob and Nora are fun, loving and happy. They generously shared their lives with us for a few days and we are very grateful for them. We had the best welcome for two weary travelers. We felts as if this was our home. Their home was inviting, warm and cozy. They gave guide books with maps and a bus pass, yea no walking, not really. Funny the things you can get done when you know you only have a day or two to see all you want to see. However, I have noticed some things are not as important as they seem. Mandi and I took our bus passes and the map to the city and that is all she ever needs to get anywhere even though she would prefer to drive herself.=o) We get to London bridge and begin our walk to all the sights starting with the tower of London making our way back down the River Thames, a market place, the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abby, St Paul’s Cathedral and more than I believed we could get in a day. But here we were exhausted again. How we keep going I do not know. So next day I am still not feeling well so we (still get out and) go to the Museum of London for free and it was big enough for the whole day, wow! We get back to the house and Sarah prepares dinner for us she said it was not much but for two travelers it was a great meal. The next and final day we go to see the changing of the guard, Hyde park, the National Museum and Tate Museum. Sad to say the museums were very hot and we did not get to stay long. OH, weather. How can I explain? SUN, lovely beautiful warm SUN. How can anyone stay inside when the sun is out? I had been told to expect cloudy rainy and possibly cold days in London, I am so glad they were wrong. Well, we were going to have to leave our little heaven in south and take a nine hour bus trip to Edinburgh, yea.
