Sore... ouch ouch... but awesome!

So today it's raining and today we leave, so really we couldn't have planned that better if we'd tried.  Yesterday we walked more and saw more churches, found the ocean and had lunch in a really cute little park where it was nice and warm in the sun (if a little cold when the wind blew).  And no, we didn't go see the little mermaid statue - neither of us wanted to walk that far and it just isn't that big of a deal to us.  If that makes us bad tourists, than so be it.

Last night was the Kultur Natten (Culture night) here in Copenhagen - at 6 pm all the museums, palaces, churches, etc were open to the public and there was a big party in the streets.  We didn't realize that you had to buy a ticket for 75 DK in order to get into things which wasn't really a big deal because the lines were crazy long and who wants to stand in line on a cold night in Denmark?  Ana did get into a bunch of tents - apparently the woman asked her where her pass was and she asked where did she buy one and the lady said "Oh, you're American" and waved her in.  She got some hot wine out of the deal, so hey, bonus!  I told her that she does the clueless blonde thing better than I do!  We mostly just walked around and took pictures of Copenhagen at night - funny enough, they really don't light up their buildings much.  The best-lit building was the mall.  Woopedeedoo.  But it was a good evening of walking and feeling the vibe - the funniest thing Ana told me is that I blend in with the Europeans here - they wear a lot of black and so do I!  It's easy for her to lose sight of me in a crowd - harder for me to lose sight of her in her orange jacket!  We expect this will change in Italy and Spain where she'll look more like a local than me.

Dinner last night was a novelty - we ate outside the restaurant on the sidewalk beside a heater.  We split a salmon sandwich that was awesome and yes, we got pix.  The bars and restaurants around here actually provide blankets for you if you sit outside.  It was awesome!  Today we're resting before we have to go to the train station - we're going to try to meet up with Dad and Carole in 2 days.  Hopefully our legs and feet will get a good rest on the trains and be ready to go again when we hit Sofia!

OK, I have to agree it is easier for me to play the blonde even though I do not blend in here...AT ALL. Gratefully since I come from a big family I have no problem going thru a crowd to get free stuff. I scored warm wine, chocolate and coffee. Mandi needs to get a little faster. You can always get good stuff with a sweet smile and a little elbow work.=o) I guess I don't have to worry about starving. Thanks to my blessed family they prepared me thru life for times like this. Love you guys=o) Oh, tell my baby Daisy "her mama loves her."
Copenhagen is a beautiful city even at night but like Mandi I wish they had more lites on the buildings, statues and even river walk. If it were not for the festival last night we would have not got as may pics as we did. We had a good time last night and walked with the crowd and saw ladies in windows dancing (not naked), musicians in the street, a pig on a spit (see my facebook page), and smelled yummy roasted nuts. We did have a great dinner but had to pay for our water (crazy, we know better now take your own). It is difficult to eat a lot of bread but the food is very good such as cheese, cheese, great bacon, ham, cheese and salmon. I have enjoyed our visit here and am grateful we came here first. Again our roommates have been awesome, we had young ladies from Spain, Switzerland, New Zealand, and even the US. I am grateful for God's answers to everyone prayers and ask you to keep up the good work Mandi and I have felt very safe.
I am so sore too and grateful we did not go see the "Little Mermaid," especially now Mandi found out the truth of the statue. Just so you know the head is from the "royal prima ballerina" but the body is from the artists wife, what is the use of a Frankenstein mermaid. Very weird if you ask me. Sorry to the art lovers.
We are off today to see Mandi's family in Sofia so we may not be able to update for a couple days. But we will be back on as soon as we can.
Here are some more pics too.
