He he he - Ana and I get different Copenhagen songs in our heads whenever we say it... makes me giggle. So blonde updating for now - we got in this afternoon after getting up WAAAAAYYYYY too early. I could so get used to train travel, though - friggin' awesomeness!!! We found the hostel without too many issues (got smart and asked the information humans for help!) and paid - first time using the debit card in Europe.
The hostel is within walking distance of most of downtown Copenhagen, so tomorrow we plan on walking our little feets off. Food has either been great or we've been so starved by the time that we eat that we think it's amazing. Not sure which, not sure if we care to figure it out. Tomorrow I want to try a smoked salmon sammich - looks incredible. Happy hour in the hostel bar is from 8-9... that's right, a happy hour that is only an hour... how weird!!
Oh, and train travel rocks!!! In order to go from Germany to Denmark, we had to take the train onto a ferry. We had to get off the train while it was on the ferry and then get back on when it was time to go - friggin awesome. That brought into sharp relief the reason why it's nice to travel with someone. I got to look at Ana and go "the train is on a friggin' ferry!!" It was great and I'm so happy that she decided to come here with me. Another lady on the train was the one who actually told us what was going on because she'd been on it before and it was a little tough to make out what the conductor was saying. We also have learned that if you look sufficiently lost of on the street somewhere, someone will take pity on you and give you directions - it happened in both Frankfurt and Copenhagen when we were looking for our hostel.
Random observations - imagine as text messages. Holy crap, skinny jeans are ridiculously popular... seriously. Quality eye candies. What is the deal with all the girls wearing tights?! Also, my hair looks funny in a headband. Eyebrow tweezing - not because anyone cares but because I don't want to hate myself in pictures. We named Ana's bag R2-D2 because it looks like him when it's behind a table. Mine is Bubba - for the same reason I was gonna name my truck that. Monga, the dolphin pillow guy is very comfy on the backpack. Might have to go hat shopping... find one like the hatter wears in the Alice that Jess got me so wonderfully hooked on.
And now I turn over the keyboard to my esteemed collegue and traveling companion (dang it, now I want a Tardis)... Ana!!
Yes it is I the crazy companion. Funny quote, "your hair looks like a Mexican afro." Ha ha ha. I always knew we had some stranges jeans in the family (not skinny jeans either). So I am wearing a hat now. I cannot wait till it is cold enough to wear my monkey hat but only for the moment. It has been oddly warmer than I expected so I have been changing clothes and spraying good smelly stuff on me. I don't think the people here care but I cannot stand smelling myself. R2D2 is terribly heavy but I know I will be using the clothes and taking the protein in the bag. I will have to toughen up. The hostels so far have had good bedding but I do not know how much it would cost to mail stuff home (like my blanket) if I decide to. ??? I will have to give myself more time. I have not had as much luck sleeping as Mandi but I am sure I will pass out sooner or later.
On another note, the train trip was totally awesome the ferry tip was the most memorable part. I did not know a train could float=o). The countryside is turning fall colors and it is very nice. I have also enjoyed the architecture in both cities. I am amazed people get to work everyday because I would so get lost looking around. The people here are very nice and helpful, you can tell they are used to tourist but even those roommates we have had so far have been friendly and helpful. It is nice here very glad I came.
I thank God for the opportunity to see these countries and for a friend to enjoy it with me.
Brunette signing off....
If you don't wnt to mail something, give it away. Hopefuly you took old items so even if you trash them it won't be a big loss. And it'll open up spce for the items you may buy and bring home. If it's fragile, have the store ship it as theyt'll insure it.
ReplyDeleteSome of the best advice I was given by my Mother:"If you see something you like, buy it. You'll not be coming this way again". I was frugal with my purchases, and yet find I still treasure them today. Some were gifts to others that with time have returned to me (like a Hummel I gave your great-grandmother Ice)
Wishing you more good memories!
