Beautiful city full of art, history and homeless, really?

Florence
Yea! Train is on time and we arrive at night and my first vision was of all the homeless people sleeping outside the train station. Who am I to complain about a little cold? I am grateful for what I have and have been blessed with in my life. Mandi and I may not have much money on our trip but we can say we slept in a warm bed all but a few nights on our traveling (either we were on a train or train station). We found our hostel easily and it was a converted convent, how cool. Nothing fancy but we were in a 6 bed female dorm with its own bathroom, score! Hot shower, yea. So again we go for our free tour but for some reason we walked around and took pictures the first day and the second we did the tour. Since Florence is the place where gelato was invented we of course had to have some and the guide directed us to the best shop (according to him).  We chose to not pay to see the church and graves where Michael Angelo was buried as well as several other famous people from Florence’s historical artistic past. At this point in our travels we are being super careful on what we spend money on. We did take a trip to the top of the hill on a bus to see the city and of course take pictures. This is a town worth seeing. Mandi and I discussed how it would be nice to see the Tuscan countryside but again we have to be aware of when and what we spend on.  We loved Florence but it was just the preparation for Rome.
